We managed to keep ourselves [more or less] out of trouble this weekend. Addison’s best friend, Eric, was up to the Miramichi this week from Ottawa, so Addison decided he wanted to go see him. He didn’t want to make the 3 hour drive on Friday after work, so after our traditional Saturday morning McD’s breakfast, we headed out.
Our original intention was to stay overnight – hopefully at Mam’s house – but we couldn’t get a hold of her for almost two days! Andrea said that Ron had the key to Mam’s house, and if they weren’t there, we could probably still crash there. I mentioned that we could stay at a hotel. Add never likes that idea, teehee.
I made record time - 2.5 hrs - and I didn’t even speed like a crazy person(no, I sped like a sane person)! We got in around 1:30 in the afternoon and headed over to where Eric was hanging out with some friends. After playing some Guitar Hero II (Did you know that they have a lefty-flip so Addison can play like a normal person? Korey didn’t last weekend! Curse you AquaScum!) we kidnapped Eric and drove to one of Miramichi’s eight Subway locations.

Eric and Addison “act natural”
Now, I just want to say for the record that the girl working at Subway failed at life. Partially it wasn’t her fault: She was working there all by herself. However, she totally could have handled the situation better! I’m not going to get into details (as it would infuriate me), but it took us over half an hour to get our food – and it wasn’t insanely busy there. I was almost ready to dive over the counter and strangle her.
Interlude: they had this magazine at Subway. I immediately gasped “That is terrible!” Add didn’t get it, but Eric totally clued in at first. See if you can take a guess:
So Eric demanded we take a picture of the mag and send it to Jay Leno, haha. I went out to the car to get the camera, and it turns out I have three missed calls from Mam! I bring the camera back in and snap a picture, and Add mentions that we could drive home that night instead of getting a hotel (told ya he hates that idea). Now, I was already irritable because, well, it’s hotter in the rest of the province than it is in Saint John, I drove nearly three hours, the girl at Subway was riding on my last nerve…So when Addison basically begs to drive home that night instead of renting a hotel, I nearly throttle him. Not the most rational of reactions, I know, but such is the way it was. I tell him in no uncertain terms that if he wants to leave tonight it will be at 5 pm – 6 at the latest – so that we’re home before dark. It was 4 at that time. He agreed, surprisingly. I told him Mam had called, so he called her back, and told her we’d drop in after we’re at Eric’s.
We spent a few minute at Eric’s house while he jammed for us. We then headed over to Mam’s house. It was great to see her – she’s very friendly. This is Andrea’s mother I’m talking about. We walked in and she offered us refreshments, which I took her up on as it was so hot, and I noticed the most beautiful piece of paper sitting on the counter:
Isn’t it just lovely? I later learned that it was actually a hand made envelope that Mam got from an East Indian woman at the local market.
So we’re chatting, standing in the kitchen, and Mam hands me said lovely envelope. I open it and it has a cheque inside! I nearly died. “That’s to go towards your dishwasher,” she said matter-of-factly, “But of course there’ll be more Kaytlyn-like presents at the reception.”
More reception news below.
We had a lovely time at Mam’s, just chatting. Finally Add said, “We should probably go – it’s 6.”
“OH MY GOSH, is it really?” I jump up, we say our goodbyes, and head out. Turns out Ron had arrived while we were talking to Mam, and he and Carl were sitting out on the deck. Ron finished the house that he and Andrea are getting ready to sell, so Add wanted to head over and check it out.
Well, I don’t know if Ron took any pictures or not, but the window upstairs is just gorgeous. Everything looked lovely, and I suspect they’ll have no trouble at all selling the house. Ron drove up just as we were getting ready to leave, so he and Add spoke for a few minutes while I tried to get a breeze going in the car. They finished up and we headed out at around 6:30. Got back to SJ around 9:30, rented a couple movies, and went home.
Sunday I did jack. It was great.
Reception News!!!111!!!ONE!!11!
So my wedding reception will be occurring on Saturday, August 18th, at 6 pm, at Mum’s tea shop. I’m so much looking forward to it! We expected only about 75% of the people we invited to accept, but nearly all of them have! The only people not attending are my father, my brother, and one of my step-brothers. So there’ll be LOTS of people, and I’m not sure where they’ll all park. I’m thinking probably at the church around the corner.

Tea shop is Pink, Parking lot is Blue

OMG RECEPTION!!!1111
Also Eric jamming… Is always fun to watch
Did Addison sing along for you?
No singing, but he did do a few sketchy dances.
Mam will always feed you - remember that.
Yeah.. sometimes he sings (It depends on the song I think) but he dances alot too…
Too bad Eric couldn’t come to the reception
How many people are you bringing up with you?
So far nobody’s asked us for a ride up. I think Chris is getting a ride with Korey.
That’d probably be a wise idea as I’m assuming you’ll probably stay with your mom.
Oh, god, I hope there isn’t too many ‘Your Mom’ jokes, coz there’s gonna be alot of mom’s there…
No, we’re actually gonna stay at a hotel in Freddy that night. I’m not going to inflict the bed at Mum’s house on him.
I told Mum why we were gonna hotel it. “Poor him,” she said. I was scandalized. “Mum, he broke his NECK!” LOL.
Oh yes, the bed.. that is a paiiiinful bed.. so squeaky too
Yes.. poor him…
