Perogie Night! (pic!spam)

That’s right folks: she cooks!

It actually got to the point where Addison said, “Please, no more protein!” We’ve had baked chicken legs and [marinated] steaks and whatnot the last few nights. So I stopped at the store and picked up some onions, green peppers, mushrooms and sour cream on the way home.

First I microwaved the perogies. I mean, they were frozen, and this way all I’d have to do was brown ‘em in a pan! Then I started to cook the onions, since they take forever.

“Mmm,” says my drooling husband, pulling himself away from his ‘puter game and sticking his head out the bedroom door. “That smells delicious!”

“Umm, it’s just onions in butter,” I said.

“But it smells delicious!”

“Honey,” I called to Addison, “I need your help. I can’t get the other frying pan down!”

Two frying pans?” he said, flabbergasted. “Why would anyone need two frying pans? I mean, when I was a kid, Mom would just cook food in the frying pan, dump it out on a plate, than cook more food in the frying pan…Why can’t you be cool like her??

Silence.

“I’m gonna blog that, y’know,” says I.

Once the onions start to brown on the edges, I toss in the perogies. Mmm with me. Mmmmmmmmmm…

The finished product. It smelled sooo good. See:

We started to watch 300 as we ate, and I finished my first bowl.

“OH NO!” I wailed. “Honey, I forgot to have sour cream!” Addison gasped. “Y’know what this means!” I said, rising. “This means I’ll have to have more perogies so I can have sour cream!”

“Mmhmm,” says he between mouthfulls.

So all was well in the world…we had food, it was good, there was virtually no protein, and I got another gorgeous shot of my gorgeous husband:

I love my husband.

Yeah, that guy is a keeper. :) I love your husband too!

I never make perogies with all the onions and peppers because most people in the house don’t like them. I’d have to make 3 batches I think, one plain, one with just onions (Mmmmmm) and one oinion & peppers. MMMmm. They look awful good.

LOL nice Andrea. I remember when *I* was a kid (as opposed to when Addison was…pshaw) we had to eat what was there or we didn’t eat at all. Do you know how many lima beans I’ve eaten in my life? BLECH.

It’s clear to me now how sheltered I am in the wilds of Idaho. I have NEVER seen perogies made with onions & peppers & sour cream. I thought they were just a litte nibbly side dish thing. OMG. Now I must make some.

Also, where ist thine registration button? I can’t log in, cuz I’m not registered. I think. Maybe I am. I don’t know. Help?

Greetings! And indeed, you have been missing out. The mushrooms were a personal touch; when I think friend onions, my mind automatically goes to mushrooms. I’m strange like that.

http://homeschooljournal.net/sign-up/ - this should lead you to registration.

…So how did you find me if you didn’t come through the main site?

Oh, Toady is a friend o’ mine… :D Blame me. She’s really cool tho.

Ya don’t have to log in Toady, if you don’t want to - comments are open I think. The registration link above will let you pick just a username too.
